Welcome to Saleno Premium Glass Drinking Straws! We're here to elevate your sipping experience and introduce you to the luxurious realm of glass straws. Our mission is two fold: to share the pleasure of drinking from glass straws with the world and to reduce single-use waste.
Our journey began during the challenging times of the Covid lockdowns in Melbourne. As a city known for its vibrant culture centered around dining out and enjoying life's simple pleasures, we found ourselves missing the experience of indulging in delicious drinks in elegant settings. To recreate that sense of luxury and sophistication at home, we turned to small gestures that brought us joy.
The focus was on creating the ideal juice or smoothie and ensuring each sip felt extraordinary. However, silicone, bamboo, and metal straws didn't cut it, and paper straws were simply ineffective. Bamboo straws were challenging to clean and prone to mold, while metal ones felt uncomfortable and damaged teeth.
Enter glass straws – the solution to all our problems. With their sleek design, ease of cleaning, no taste and smooth texture, glass straws quickly became a staple in our home. And thus, Saleno Premium Glass Drinking Straws was born.
Why the name Saleno? The inspiration stems from 'Celaeno,' one of the stars in the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, in astronomy. In Greek mythology, Celaeno is revered as a goddess. The Ancient Greek spelling is tricky, so we opted for 'Saleno' instead. We adore the name for its elegance as well as it's celestial and mythological meanings.
